Overview & Reviews
After nearly a decade out of the sport coupe spotlight, Lexus returns with a compelling entry. Since its debut of the SC coupe in 1992, Lexus has largely been overlooked by shoppers who wanted avant-garde styling, sports car performance and luxurious appointments. And it has never before offered a convertible roof. They need look no further. The new SC 430 delivers all that in spades.
- Luxurious comfort and convenience features, avant-garde styling, wonderful engine performance, retractable hard-top, Lexus quality.
- Sparse cargo space, cramped (nearly useless) rear seats.

2002 SC430 - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By K Cooper - February 5 - 5:03 amAcceleration is moderate at first, then strengthens considerably. The ride is very comfortable and the car responds quickly and surely to sudden changes in direction. The hard top convertible is a real plus. Quiet as a coupe when up and very easy to get up or down. Quality is expectional. No repairs needed thru the first 35,000 miles. Maintenance costs are very high if serviced by the dealer. The summer run-flat tires that came with the car were useless in winter, wore out in about 25K miles and were expensive to replace at $300 per tire.

By jdleroy - January 29 - 12:58 amBought the car 1 year ago @ 12 years of age with 100K and loving. All original equipment is still functioning perfectly and car is running strong, with the exception of 3 busted speakers that I replaced.

Great Car! - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By Valerie - November 16 - 7:13 amI bought this car new in 2002 and have driven it almost 100,000 miles. Still love it. Other than the CD player becoming inexplicably inoperable recently (I spent $800 to replace it), it has never had any major problems. Lexus hasnt changed the body style at all since 2002, so with a recent paint job, the car looks brand new.

Rolling Luxury - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By dpb - November 4 - 2:00 amThis has been an outstanding automobile. The car is fun to drive, comfortable, and has plenty of power. The sound system: incredible! I get more postive comments about this car than I did with the Corvette C-5 I had owned.

great car - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By Dave Iwinski - October 19 - 6:24 amI never keep a new car past 4-5 years. I have owned my 2002 SC430 14 years. I still struggle if I want a convertible again, what is better?? I have pampered it like a baby and it still looks new. If you can find a well kept one, buy it.

Luxury, Style, Speed - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By Car Lover - August 6 - 10:00 amPurchased this car a year ago and still loving it. The engine is silky smooth and quiet and will give you awesome acceleration when you want it. The interior is the best around with an awesome sound system and navigation system. The materials used in this car is second to none and the fit and finish is superb. Anyone that thinks a V8 lincoln can out accelerate this Lex is dreaming. The interior is a million times better than any Corvette. Anyone that thinks Lexus uses corolla parts in this car has obviously never driven an SC. The SC430 draws a crowd unlike the outdated vette.

Fun, Fun, Fun - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By DEB-SC - June 4 - 10:00 amI have had my SC430 for 9 months, and it is an absolute joy to drive and own. The car is sporty, but roomy enough to be comfortable. The ride is excellent and all controlls are easily accessible. I traded my Mercedes Clk for the SC and have no regrets.

Everything you could ask for! - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By Mike3k - May 12 - 10:00 amOnly possible additional desire would be a truely usable set of rear seats (really infants/toddlers or briefcases only).

Dream Car - 2002 Lexus SC 430
By David A. - April 17 - 10:07 amJust bought a 2002 SC 430. I have been wanting this car every since it came out in the early 2000s, so my review may be a little biased lol. It has high mileage, 218,000 to be exact, but the previous owner has taken meticulous care of the car, and it still looks and drives like its new. With Lexus/Toyota reliability, this car is only at middle age! lol. No, its not a "barn burner".....you wont be able to outrun a corvette at the stoplight, but the V8 is quietly powerful and the power is there when you need it. for me, its definitely a keeper....will run it until the wheels literally fall off. Then I will just replace the wheels and continue on lol. One drawback: I do agree with the other reviewers in reference to the harsh/rough ride due to the run flats....
